The 1964 United States Proof
Set is a "One Year Type Proof Set" that is almost 40 years old. 1964 was
the only Year that the Proof Kennedy Half Dollar was made in 90% Silver.
During the "Silver Boom" in 1980, I personally melted over 20,000 sets
because of the high dollar value of Silver. Some estimates are that 70% of
these sets may have been melted down during the "Silver Boom" of the 80s.
Since the United States Mint has starting selling Silver Proof Sets in
1999, their value has been steadily increasing, with the most recent sets
starting at $31.95. The current 2002 United States Silver Proof Sets have
jumped way up in value and are selling on eBay for prices ranging from
$50.00 to over $70.00.
When you consider the 1964 Silver Proof Sets in the light of these facts,
"THEY ARE A GREAT VALUE!"
Sure to increase in the future.
Build your
